Shape Hunt: Find Shapes Around You
Go on a shape hunt around the home or classroom and discover shapes in everyday objects.
Try it together
- Choose one shape, such as a circle.
- Look around the room for objects with that shape.
- Name each object and trace its outline with a finger.
- Repeat with a square, triangle, and rectangle.
Make it playful
Keep the activity short, celebrate effort, and let children move, point, talk, draw, or act whenever it helps them participate.
For parents and caregivers: Avoid turning the activity into a test. Ask questions such as “What shape do you notice?” and allow children to explain their thinking.
